Help! Salamanders in my basement!

Salamanders keep finding their way into my basement windows! I'm afraid they'll freeze or starve in there. I took 3 to the creek 10 miles away last week and now after the heavy rain yesterday there are 3 more! I know nothing about these guys, I live in central Oregon near a forest. Should I keep taking them to the creek? I really feel they're best off in the wild but they keep coming to my house for warmth or ?<center><table border=1><tr><td>

Well I would take them out to the woods near some water or something simmiler. I think it all the rain we have been having, its been nuts up here with the flooding and all.

And you might look into sealing up the windows. It may be that the seams need to be re-caulked, or the windows may not fit into their casings properly anymore, due to house-shifting. If salamanders are getting in, you're probably getting lots of bugs through those windows, too, as well as excess moisture.

I wish I had salamanders falling into my basement, but I put all of them there.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
