How should I plant aquatic plants

Hi Guys,
I just bought 3 duckweed plants and right now they just float. The dude at the pet shop said I should just place them in the gravel. I did that but they keep floatingup to the surface.
Please help on looks very ill and is almost dead.

duck weed is meant to float on the surface!! i know that petshop "dudes" can be ignorant at best but this is amazing

! duckweed needs lots of light so if you don't have a light with your aquarium then it will die

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
