Hot Glue In A Terrestrial Sal's Tank

, but would it be safe to use hot glue in a terrestrial salamander's tank? It's just to hold pebbles together for a cave.

If so how long should I let it "cure"(so to speak)

Hot glue is, to my knowledge, completely non-toxic. The cure time is a matter of minutes (until it cools). The only disadvantage is that it is not very strong.

Sorry I don't know what hot glue is but given the job you have in mind isn't the natural candidate Silicon sealant (allowed to dry away from animals and water), of the sort used to make and repair aquariums?

Aquarium sealant is another good option. But the hot glue needs no curing time, and it's cheaper if you need to use a ton of it (assuming one already owns a glue gun). The big disadvantage the hot glue is poor strength, especially in wet places.

Well it's going to make a cave, made out of pebbles, for my breeding redback salamanders. Their tank has a lot of caves and artificial burrows.

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
