so about a month or 2 ago 1 of my 4 taricha granulosa became very lethargic, he stopped eating so i assumed he was sick and quarentined him, he later died. now another one is becoming lethargic and its skin is very smooth rather than the rough skin typical of t. granulosa, ive now quarentined that one, it also had about 1 millimeter of the tip of its tail cut off some how?

somebody help me save my newt!

What's the temperature in their enclosure?

We're gonna need as much information as you can give us.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
