Hi,
I am new here, and need some tank ideas for my future pair of chinese fire belly newts, also would a 5.5 or a 10 gallon suitable for a pair?
Please post your fire belly newt tanks

thanks

A pair could live in a 5 or 10 gallon tank, but the 10 gallon tank costs about the same, and gives you more options for how to arrange it. The larger the tank the more stable the water quality also.

If you haven't already, read the FAQ and setups article here:

You can probably find additional photos by searching the forum archives.

In my tank I have lots of plants and rocks and I have piled lots of gravel at one side so there is an island they can crawl onto

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
