hai,

i'm thinking about purchasing a few of the triturus marmoratus, does anyone know how much is asked now a days in holland for these species?

thanks
Hugo

I'm not sure about Holland, but in the UK, adults are about £30 (50 euro), juveniles about £6 (10 euro).

Caleb.

Well if you are in the Urodela circle in Holland you'll pay a lot less : prices for juveniles are approx 5 EURO... as for most juvenile Triturus species

Good luck Hugo. This is my favourite Triturus species. I recently acquired some once again last autumn from another Caudata.org user and they're growing quite fast. Very entertaining little fellows. They always come out in the evening and hunt around their vivarium. Beautifully coloured and quite hardy.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
