You should update your profile so that we can see how many newts you have.

Do you know that Japan does not export Cynops pyrrhogaster anymore?
That means that they have to come from a breeder or were illegaly exported from Japan. Neither scenario is very likely.
That's why people are sceptical.

Kelsey and Melissa here seem to be talking about C.orientalis.

I assume you do know the difference between different Cynops species and can differentiate Paramesotritons from Cynops?

It would certainly be interesting if they are C.pyrrhogaster, can you post a pic?

Melissa - not necessarily. A lot of people get newts from a pet shop and the newts lay eggs immediately because they have been "primed" while still in the wild. But breeding them again in a long-term captive environment is another matter. Also, even newts that breed regularly for a couple of years may not breed one year if their conditions haven't been right.

umm dude its really bad 2 keep 1 female with 2 males cuz the 2 males will beat up on each other just 2 impress the girl newt.

Ammar I edited your post as it was unnecessary to shout.

Ammar,
direct aggression between two males like you are implying for Cynops has not been recorded as far as I know. A lot of people keep Cynops in a mixed sex group and reproduction is not a problem and there is little to know agression between the males.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
