Sirens illegal?

im not totally sure but are sirens illegal in California? i whent to the pet store to get more crawdads for my mudpuppy when i noticed that they had really tiny sirens, i think that they were larvae, im not sure if they are greater or lesser sirens, i was still surprised that they were even there. they seemed to be in good shape too.

Possibly Dwarf Sirens? Best identification I've found for the dwarfs is the appearnce of striping... worth a look, they stay small, and very interesting creatures... and if they are larvae, still worth a look lol, they get big and are very interesting creatures.

One of the better ways of differentiating between siren spp. and pseudobranchus is that dwarf sirens have three toes, opposed to four.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
