Heh, I just spent 30 seconds trying to figure out where the egg was... until I realised it said Yawning, not SPawning. I thought you'd really gone where no one has gone before Tim

Thanks! Glad you finally figured it out

Mind you, that gape was big enough to swallow a toy poodle...easily! That particular giant salamander and the one to the right of it seem to be the two biggest of the six or so at the Ueno Zoo, measuring around 1.4 meters or so.

I spent about a half hour waiting for it to yawn again after failing to get decent pics of the previous yawn. Truly awesome beasts!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
