Hi, I have a Pachytriton labiatus, and I was wondering what the minimum acceptable temperature for it would be in the wintertime. Can P. labiatus tolerate temperatures in the 40s-50s (Fahrenheit)? Or is that just too cold?

Rose, That would be fine...Most newts need a winter dormancy time to breed anyways...

Hi Hayden,
Thanks! By the way, how often should the newt be fed at this temperature? I've never had the temp drop this low before in winter, and I normally feed my newt about 3 times a week when the temp is in the high 60s-low 70s.

Rose,
The newt doesn't need to be fed as often during these temperatures...But 2-3 times a week should be fine...Any more ?'s just email me at bert_kurt_claudio@hotmail.com
