This is really more or less a curious question... I'm a huge herp fan, mainly on the reptile spectrum, and I know that a lot of female reptiles CAN get egg-bound...

I was wondering if that could ever possibly happen to a female axie... or any female amphibian for that matter.

Egg binding in axies

No I dont think its possible for axies to get egg bound (correct me if I am wrong) thier eggs are covered in a type of jelly for protection not hard shell like a birds egg also the egg compared to body ratio seems very small. I am aware of cloacal prolapse which can occur when the eggs are reabsorbed into the body as they have not been used but I believe this is pretty rare (so as not to scaremonger).

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
