I am not sure if my axolotl is pooping or not, he eats all his food, isnt putting on weight (but at the moment he is in good shape)
I am just not sure if he is doing his business, because when i did a small water change yesterday all i saw was the icky food scraps.
sorry if this is stupid i am really paranoid though.

Sometimes poo disintegrates and you find a sort of brownish powder, if you have white things in tank you can spot it. Or really depends on what you feed them too, when we give liver or heart on occasion a few days later they will have a sort of dark stringy looking poo (which is the meat); I've also seen one of ours poo out a clear worm skin.

But the food scraps could be regurgitated food, maybe you're overfeeding? just a thought

i dont think it is regurgitated food because sometimes the food just sogs out and it breaks off. and yes i think you just gave me the answer.
