The old floating problem

I know that this question is very frequent here, but my axo is strange...she is floating with the belly down, but she is active and eating well...sometimes she gets to the bottom of the tank but she spend 3/4 of the day on the surface of the water...what could it be? It can be connected to the gravel eating problem (I've already get the gravel out!)?

even though u have taken the gravel out it can stay inside the axie for a long time. but gravel wouldnt cause him to float. what are you feeding?.

Earthworms! I dont know what can it be! Sometimes she is on the botton of the aquarium, but she is spending more and more time every day floating...

Well...its a little warm, I have to check it... I'm putting ice on it but the new filter rise the temperature

Is the filter causing a lot of current? This could cause stress too. Maybe the combination of the two.

Stress can leave them more suseptible to illness, causing floating.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
