Help! Amadeus won't eat!

I have a male golden albinp about 1.5 years old. He is about 9inches long and typically is very aggressive when it's feeding time. As soon as I take the lid off the tank he's there waiting for his brine shrmp cube! Yesterday I noticed that he was hanging out close to the filter, almost stuck to it, but I moved him away from it and he swam away (seemed fine). Today I went to feed him and he wouldn't even move, AND he let me pick him up with my hand! (Something he would never put up with).

He has a tank mate, Annabelle and they are separated by a plexi divider because of their breeding habbits and she is fine. I commonly rotate the filter (ever 2 wks)from one side of the tank to the other so both sides stay clean and no one is too stressed. It is a filter that was recommended to me on this website and I've had it for about 9months now so I don't think it is a filter problem. Regardless I moved the filter to Annabelle's side and put the bubble stones on Amadeus's side. I also changed the filter cartridge today and changed about 1/4 of the water. (nice cool water)they are in a cool area of the house, so temp isn't an issue.

None of these things are new to him, and he's never been like this before. I'm very worried about him! And confused at what it could be since his tankmate, Annabelle, is fine! They get fed twice a week (they were getting too fat with every-other-day feeding!) and he is always so eager to snap at his food. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Thanks

Worried,
Ashlee

what are the water paremiters? you shouldnt change all of the filter media at once, it will mess with the cycling.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
