im going away for 3 days and i currently have my two in the fridge (1 day),is it safe for them to stay in there for that long? should i get someone to check on them? do i feed them while in the fridge? how do you give them a massage?
could it be possible for cota to have white spot? should i change the water and if so how, seeing its a smallish container? and i know that when axolotls are stressed te ends of their tails curl, this hasnt happened though their tails are wavey

Ok, Melissa, first off, they would be fine in the fridge, but the larger the contianer the better. They don't really need to eat much, 3 days is fine. I wouldn't worry about them that much, they should be perfectly fine. Nice picture.

hi melissa, i agree with jess they will be fine in the fridge. 3 days without food is not long for an axolotl. they can go a week or two without food.

If you keep them in a small container in the fridge, you're going to have to have someone come by and change their water at least once. Keep a large jug of water next to the axolotl container (so it's the same temperature as the refrigerated axolotl). Pour out the water in the axolotl container and add the water from the jug.

The tail doesn't look curled, just a little wavy, which is normal.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
