Hey guys my males cloaca has shrink from about 1cm or half a inch to 3-5mm or 1/4 of a inch. is this normal?.

just wanted to know just in case, thanks in advance, stipe.

I have experienced this when they get sick.

I lost an albino not all that long ago. just the usual - stopped eating (never worked out why).

And anyway as time got on his, "male bits" shrank from being about 1cm to about about the same as you described.

Other than that i havn't seen it yet on a healthy axy.

Sorry i cant be of more help, just wanted to let you know that your not the first.

Mine is realy healthy and active he anways eats and stuff so i dont know why mabey because he reliced all his sperm earlyer on and that made it shrink.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
