Okay I noticed just now that one of my little guys leg is broken... It goes out a little then very sharp down. He's walking on it so i dont think it hurts him, (i guess) Also coming straight out of the end of the leg where it turns sharply down there is what looks like his bone and it sticks out a little, (it looks like its covered with skin though.) Is he alright? Thanks

There is not a whole lot you can do for broken axolotl legs. Sometimes when the legs are growing back they do not grow back "correctly". I have had many young axolotls grow back some strange looking legs and feet.

All you can really do is keep a close eye on it to watch for fungus and infection.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
