Part of tail missing

I woke up this morning to see my golden albino missing a little chunk of the see through part of the tail. When i was cleaning the tank today i noticed that piece of tail near an ornament.

Will that regenerate or will it stay like that?

Was it eaten by another tank mate or was it caught on an object?

most porbably another axy then it spat it back out. unless you have any ornaments in your tank that could have ripped a bit off his tail off?

Don't worry Brendan, axies lose tail tips or chunks quite often and they nearly always regrow.

Best keep an eye out for infection though for a few days.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
