Here's another thread concerning egg development and hatching, so people don't have to repeat themselves. I hope the following links will be useful.

http://www.caudata.org/forum/messages/793/21608.html?1094675644

Also, do check out http://caudata.org/axolotl John Clare (Grand Poobah of caudata.org) did a fabulous job creating one of the most informative axolotl sites on the web. Another good axolotl site is the one for the Indiana University Axolotl Colony (http://www.indiana.edu/~axolotl).

I hope this helps answer some of your questions. If you're still having trouble, feel free to ask at the forum.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
