Dose any body know what kind of colour sand is ok to use and poss. were to get some Thanks for your help

The imporant thing is that the sand be either too large to possibly be swallowed, or else quite fine so that it if some is swallowed it will not clog the digestive tract. This is a serious issue, so be careful what you choose.

The color really doesn't matter to the axolotl. But be sure the sand is made of rock, not shells (don't use sand from a beach, in other words). Pet shop products are safe, and people have also used play sand and swimming pool filter sand.

If you search through the old posts in this part of the forum, you'll find a lot of threads on the topic of sand, that should give you some ideas.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
