When I feed them

Can I feed them twice a day every day until theyre 15cm when I get them? They are probably less then 12cm even now...i cant tell without taking a tape measure to the shop and putting up against the tank when one is there, and I know they are feeding them every other day. You can still see their insides. And is daphnia food ok? I seen this is in the petshop along with bloodworms. Was told they are fine for them. They are small brown cubes. But is says tropical fish on the packet too I think. Im not sure if they said its brine shrimp. They did look at another one and said theyre not sure if they can eat that, put it back and later showed me the daphnia pack. So I dont know if those are the brine shrimp or those are just blocks for fish only. very confused.

I would say once a day unless they are skinny. The daphnia is good when they are smaller. Now you should feed them some thing like blood worms. You can feed them beef heart but not all the time to fatty. Brine shrimp are ok I have found that they make a bIg mess. Mine also like strips of fresh shrimp. Alot of people say the earth worms are the best as a staple I don't like messing with live food.

I agree with Karrie's suggestion - if you're going to use frozen food, try to get bloodworms. Frozen brine shrimp and daphnia are both OK, but will mess up the tank. Bloodworms are less messy, it's easier to clean up the leftovers. And I also agree that once per day is enough for 12cm size axies. You could even do every other day and they'd be fine.

Thankyou. I tried to get some plastic tweezers today that they use in the shop to feed them, but they dont sell them and i couldnt find any anywhere not even at reptile specialists.
I read that some of you use bbq things to feed them and they are metal arnt they, so i can use metal tongs to feed them? thats the only thing i could find but i didnt get them cos i wasnt sure. im gonna have to feed them with my hands again today.

That looks good. But do they always find it cos they have to have food shoved in their faces sometimes dont they as they only detect it by movement. mine swim away when i try and feed them until i swish it about and when their faces are covered in a swarm of worms they realise its food, snap it up and rip the rest off the tweezers!
If the jar thing does work with mine it would be alot easier to take out any leftovers. thanks.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
