My axie loves maggots and earthworms. Are maggots ok to use as food?

i beleive they are ok as long as you buy the un-dyed maggots as some sold for fishing are dyed to make them more attractive.

It's ok-they are undyed. I usually keep them to turn into flies for my chameleon!

the problem with them is that they are very fatty.
it is great as a treat, and i feed them to mine about once every other week, but it should definitely not be staple

OK thanks! I use earthworms as a staple. She also gets pellets and frozen bloodworms.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
