i thinkk sometimes mine have favourite spots to poop. In his old house when he was along, he used to poop in the same plant. I think they chose where their potties will be, mine usualy chose plants out in the middle of the tank in the open. Just as long as they do not chose the cave :p

I somehow doubt that will work! You have to catch them pooing and it isn't always in the same place, sometimes if it's a bit long - well these things do occur - they will swim fast to try and shake it free so it will fall wherever. Most times ours poo in the cave, under bridge, between plants on top of tunnel, that's if it doesn't disintegrate b4 you spot it, or sucked into filter.

Spyyk is odd about her toilet habits, as I've often said.

She will always go in the same place, right at the front in the middle of the tank.
She will turn, examine and approve. Waits for me to pick up the baster, brings one hand up.
Waits for me to open the lid - the hand hovers.
I get the baster in.... and she stomps on it.
And runs off.
I swear she laughs.

Every time.
EVERY time.

I would do if I could.
I'm not often there when she decides to go, and she usually squishes it straight away then.
Next time I find her hovering, I'll try to grab the camera.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
