Across from the window would be better, so there's indirect light, axies generally sleep during the day, and hunt/feed, move around more at night. If you do have it by the window, then cover it with something so your axie doesn't get stressed.
mine is in the middle of the back wall in my room on a chest of draws. During most of the day there is direct light, so i just put a pillow on that sunny side and then there is a nice big shadow over him.
I use a normal tank tube light, but then I have a lot of hygrophyla, Spyyk has a tunnel and a big shadow under the filter, not to mention a suspended wood hammock to snooze under if it's too bright
Mines on the chest of drawers next to my bed and i keep the light off and the blinds down in the day. For a noctournal animal he sure likes to swim in the day.
Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation
Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
