Compatibility of axie and pleurodeles waltl?

Insert the usual thing about mixing species [here] - it's a bad idea in general.

That aside, while Pleuros aren't necessarily "aggressive", per se, they are *ferocious* feeders, and would probably stress the axie out by fighting with it at feeding times (and other times - they can be a bit territorial, too). Knowing how MY Pleuros are, they'd probably chew up the axies's gills, too - these guys'll chomp on *anything*.

Not a good idea.

Oh, ok thanks, S1ren. Wouldn't want to risk that, especially as my axie is easily stressed! Is there any 'kind' , non-aggressive newts, water salamanders etc, that would get on with an axie without fighting? Maybe not, but no harm in asking.

Yes: other axies

Most other newts are small enough that the axie may try to eat them, and many have specific habitat requirements that would make them non-compatible.

The bigger problem is that they have different imunitary system so some parasites, protozoans don´t harm the pleurodeles but will hurt axies, and Pleurodeles walt have they´re venomous "ribs" that will harm your axie too, the thing to know here is that some animals can´t be kept together not just because they will eat each others but it´s just more complex than that.

Just a question, don't worry. I would't risk my axie with unsuitable companion. I love my baby girl

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
