Hello Everyone,

Does anybody know where to get axolotls in Brisbane? most of the pet stores i've seen don't seem to have any healthy looking ones or simply don't sell them.

Thanks

are you from the northside? these are my local lfs: pet stock in caboolture - 2 Strathvale Court, Caboolture QLD 4510, Ph: (07) 5495 3222, E-mail : caboolture@petstock.com.au - can order them in if you ask. and the red devil aquarium in caboolture - phone: (07) 5499 2239, email: reddaqua@bigpond.net.au, street address: 24C Aerodrome Road, CABOOLTURE, QLD 4510 - always stocks them BUT they dont have any at the moment because 'there arn't any available at the moment from the local breeders'.

I have seen some at Churmside Westfield pet shop and North Lakes one as well. I think that is where i was them. I think there also may be some at Strathpine Westfield

There's sometimes a guy selling juvies at the Chandler markets on Saturday mornings.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
