Hey guys,

Our largest axolotl Julio didnt come out for feeding the other night, and I didnt think much of it. But last night I looked at her, and she has a white film over her right eye, and it is puffy. I dont think she can see very well at all right now....

Has anyone ever experienced this? I am worried, as I dont want her eye to worsen, but dont really know what to do.

Try salt baths for a week and see what happens. 2-3 teaspoons of salt per litre

Only do for 10-15 mins though. any longer will burn your axie

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
