Hi, I'm doing a little project for my statistics class (extra credit assignment!) and decided to do something about axolotls. So it would be really really helpful if people could reply with four pieces of information:
-length of their axolotl(s)
-type (leucistic, wildtype, etc.)
-volume of aquarium (and number of axolotls currently residing in it)
-age of axolotl

The more precise the better! Thanks tons.

And you can use metric or standard units, I'll convert.

Hey,
I've got 5 axolotls, all wildtype. They are from
the same batch of eggs and now 11 months old and
20 cm long. Not sure how much that is in inches.

They all live in a 200L tank.
Hope that helps with your research.

Cheers, Steffi

-volume of aquarium (and number of axolotls currently residing in it)-1 axie in about 60L- i dunno, how long does it take an axie to reach 20cm?? im guessing from 1yr 8 mnths, if a cm a month....about that?!?!?

Wow, thanks so much for the information, everyone! It's exactly what I wanted. I just finished up my assignment (thank goodness, it's after 2am now... *yawn*) Basically, I was just trying to find out if there is a connection between an axolotl's length and its age, type, and the volume of its aquarium.

I found that there was no correlation between the type of axolotl, volume of aquarium, and length (which was pretty much what I expected), but there was strong evidence to suggest that the age of an axolotl helps predict its length (still pretty obvious!). However, I also came up with an equation you can use to predict an axolotl's length, based on its age:

y = 5.808 + 11.1387 log (x)

y is the axolotl's predicted length in centimeters and x is its age in months. Try it out if you want! Gosh, I hope that all makes sense, I am definitely ready to go to sleep, hehe.
