Do your axys yawn? Ours does and it's so funny. She looks like the baddies in the Kirby games that open their mouths really wide to try and suck Kirby in. (Along with loads of air lol)

When ours does it we half expect the water to disappear

I'm easily amused :p lol

hehehe! Yup, funnily enough Chuck does it when I talk to him. Obviously I bore him! hahaha!

looks strange .. :p

Hahaha maybe you should change the subject?!

Ours does it about once a week from what I've seen Lol.

Her mouth opens to a size bigger/rounder than her body Lol.

Awsome Mel,I always wish I had my camera when I see them yawn!I have seen them do it a lot.Almost like they are stretching their faces as far as they will go.Can see how my snail disappeared....

My axies must be well entertained as I've only seen one yawn out of the whole group.

PS: I am well aware that axolotl yawning is probably not linked to their entertainment level, or oxygen levels, etc. I meant the statement to be amusing.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
