One day I went to this pet store just 3-4 mins away from my home and couldn't see any axolotls until I found this FAT Golden Albino axolotl who had draped itself onto a plant with one rear foot holding onto the plant and the stupid petshop owner had put these two axolotls (other's a True Melanoid who's also fat) IN a tank WITH fishes!! (small goldfish or something I think?)

Guess that's why they're fat, eh? Makes a change from seeing the usual poorly, malnourished specimens that I always seem to see in pet shops.

Well thats good all the axies I see look so skinny and bad. Maybe they are feeder fish. Although a lot of people disagree with feeding axies feeder fish it is still common and not necessarily wrong although I don't do it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
