Can round females wait ?

hi everyone

I got a few axie females and some axie males but i got them all separate, one aquarium for each one.
At this time they are with 18cm/7inches with good signs of maturity and health , two females are very very plump/round!
I want to start breeding them only when they get at least 25cm/10inches.
But these females are so round that i am afraid that they start laying those "infertile" eggs!
Or can i wait to trigger courtship and egg laying in a few months later when they are bigger?can they wait?

Luis, laying infertile eggs isn't usually a problem for the female. If you just leave the eggs, the female will eat them as well.

Some axolotls don't get that big. None of mine have topped 20cm. Since yours are sexually mature, they're probably fine to mate.

Why are you wanting to breed them? Do you understand the level of commitment it takes to raise larvae? They need nearly constant attention, and very small, live food. This can be quite expensive.

Hi karrie and kaysie !
Thanks for yours replies and i did join male and female so in two days spermathophores were laid and eggs were laid and are fertile. Other females that are so round has this one that laid eggs are still waiting their turn
So I think we can make them wait without laying infertile eggs !
Thanks

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
