Put him in a shallow dish of tank water and wait for the rock to pass. Change the dish of water on a daily basis. Try to keep it as cool as possible.

This may be obvious but... remove all swallowable rocks from his tank!

i have just been reading up on your problem and i have found that you are to put in a little tank water and let the stones/rocks pass by themselves and the cooler the water the easier they will pass them out. this is what i have found out from a site so all ya can do is try but be patient and calm

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
