HELLO
my name is jacob and my axolotls just laid heaps of eggs i was wondering if you could tell me if the eggs they laid are fertile or not. They have little hair like things on the outer layer of the eggs i have had the eggs for about 2 weeks i have put a bubbler in the corner of the tank aswell. if you could also tell me what fertile and unfertile eggs look like it would be a great help.
Thankyou for your help

Jacob,

The egg shown in the picture is infertile and has been attacked by a fungus.

Also in the future please start a new thread do not hijack threads.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
