I currently have a two foot tank with two adult axolotls in. I have never really paid them too much attention, as I didnt know much about them. However, I am now doing lots of research, and want to make their environment far far better. To this end I have requested from my fiance, a 4 foot tank for Christmas. What do I need to keep in mind when I am able to move them into this?
What would I have to do to make it a stress free transition? Also, would I need any more filtration? I currently have an in tank filter at the top of the tank, just breaking the waters surface to add aeration. For UK people, its a Fluval 1. Would I need to add an airline in to get more oxygen? Currently the axy gills are very short, but I have read this is because if they are getting plenty of oxygen they dont need to be long. They were being fed twice a week, but having done more research I am now feeding them every other day to every three days. So any suggestions would be much appreciated!
