Hi, on a holiday to Pakistan this summer, in the city of Karachi, i came across these toads in a relative's garden. They were first located in and around a small water filled saucer (the kind often placed under plant pots) on the lawn and soon after around the edge of the garden. Their size may be due to their age - or the species may only naturally grow to that level - i do not know. My relatives mentioned having seen larger "frogs" around the garden recently, but did not know if they were of the same species, or of another. So far I have been unsuccessful in identifying them. Does anybody have any idea what they are? Thanks for your help!

Hi Mike,

Thanks! I only had time for a quick look at the links you supplied but they looked promising. I'll let you know if i find out what they were. When I was there I searched for books on the local amphibian and reptile life - sadly to no avail. If any such books exist, they managed to elude me!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
