Reed Frogs

Hey guys,

Is anyone around here working with reed frogs (specifically Hyperolius species)? Recently, I've been getting more reed frogs and will soon be making 30ish gallon verts for each group. So far, I have H. argus, H. puncticulatus, H. pictus, H. mitchelli, and H. marmoratus 'red bellied'. Hopefully after they are set up in their permanent tanks (most are in quarantine) they will start breeding. Does anyone know where to get any reed frogs? I'm looking for more H. argus, more H. mitchelli, more H. marmoratus 'red bellied', H. semidiscus, H. taeniatus, of course H. rubrovermiculatus, etc. Let me know if you can help.

How are you breeding your reeds? I've heard running water helps in the breeding of H. mitchelli, not sure if it's true for the other species or not. Thanks,

Derek Benson

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
