after reading other posts to new firbelly owners, im thinking i may be feeding mine too often...on other posts ive seen the suggestion of feeding every other day, but i feed my firebelly every day and he doesnt seem to like it when he doesnt get fed. should i start feeding him every other day or is it ok to keep feeding everyday? he gets fed crickets &/or mealworms with calcium powder

o- forgot to mention, he is not full grown, does not sing, but is very active, ive had him for 3months now

Every day sounds alot. I feed my to adult toads twice a week. If yours are young try 3 times a week or every 2-3 days. Also meal worms are not particularly good due to the chitin coat. Feed crickets with vitamin powder. Some fire bellys perfer slow prey so you can try worms.

I feed my group every day. If I miss a day the bully will go after the smaller ones. I also feed every day because that is how they were fed at the pet store.

2-3 times a week is a good time scale of food. Remember, they can be quite greedy (in the wild they are constantly looking food), so feed an amount you think is appropiate.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
