My name is Chris.
I frequently visit the axie site,
where I have learnt alot from the people there.
I live in Victoria and at present we are going through a
bad drought.
I haven't got a degree in any thing but I am the mum of
a great lad and a great mum in law to his wife.
As I live in Australia I am very interested in the
lizards, geckos and dragons of which I have 1 gecko and bearded dragon.
I am a workaholic but always have time for my friends, family
and animals.
Thank you for reading,
Cheers,
Chris.

Hi Chris and welcome. Seems like you've quite a family there (including the lizards!). Sorry about the drought - how does that effect life there?

Thank You Maddie and John.
John:
The drought makes us really appreciate
every drop of rain we get. I have plenty of buckets outside
to catch it.
Also I am very careful on how much water I use during
the times I am home. Having fish and axie tanks, I keep a sharp eye
on water conditions before I change the water.
I have also ordered a couple of large rain water tanks,
which should be delivered soon.
I have my herps because I was suffering empty nest syndrome.
You as a newly wed haven't got that far.....yet!!!
I would also like to add what a great job you do on this site.
You must be glued to the computer???
Cheers,
Chris.

The last 2-3 weeks I've been taking days off here and there to get this done. I've had a lot of 4-7am "nights" too. Most of the work is done now for the conversion.

My wife has been away at college since September last year so I have something of an empty nest myself!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
