Hello!
My name is Kim, and my family and I live in Northwestern WA. We recently moved, and have a raised, man-made pond at our new home.
We have found two little residents in that pond, and I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help us identify them and help keep them happy and healthy!

Welcome to the forums!

I see that you already have an ID on your two salamanders. They are gorgeous little guys. Good luck with your pond and hope to see you around with some more questions and comments.

Thank you for the welcome! I've been looking around and I never thought I would be so interested in these little critters! :p

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
