Just realised need to introduce myself!

My name is Gillian, I am from Gloucester, I dont know that much about newts, as I mainly own lizards!,but i would love a newt, the little newt i found has made me facinated with these beautiful little animals, they are so intelligent and inquizitive, not that my lizards arent either!.
I read that people used to catch smooth newts and keep them as pets?, I have a conscience about keeping a wild caught newt as they where born in the wild, although it seems my little guy is reluctant to go!,but i guess i am going to have to part with him:(

Welcome to the forums! Newts are wonderful little animals aren't they?

I've sent you a PM to let you know what happened to your threads.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
