I have a firebelly that is very active and never leaves the water. He's a big eater and seems healthy in every way but I just noticed that his eyes look like they are popping or bulging, he looks bug eyed. I looked at the other two in the tank and they look normal. He has been this way for almost a week. I thought that maybe he was shedding but I guess not. Any suggestions? Thanks!

This is not something I've ever heard of before. Sorry, I'm blank on suggestions, aside from the usual: continue good basic care. It seems unlikely to be something contagious, so if it were me, I wouldn't quarantine.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
