i have heard that axies are sencitive to sudden changes of light and that they are nocturnal i was wondering if a UV light would alter their nocturnal activities the same way a regular light would if left on at night.
are they uv sensitive?
because as they are primalary nocturnal i would like to c them when active and if a uv light works that would be gr8

Bad idea. UV can cause damage to the skin and such.

As the axolotls settle in, they'll become more active during the day, especially if you feed them during the day.

Active is still a relative term, as axolotls don't move much at all, unless there's food around. Most adults would probably sit in one spot if food came in one end and poo was removed from the other.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
