Hi; Some of my tigers spend all of thier time in water end of of a large devided tank. The other day I noticed one had an eye closed ,and some of what I think might be fungus around it [wite fuzzy stuff].How would I treat just the eye. The animal has no other marks or spots on it.

Even though only the eye is affected, I think you could treat the whole animal with short salt baths. Or possibly find an anti-fungal remedy and put it on the eye with a dropper. Disclaimer: I'm not a vet, these are just ideas based on what I've heard of.

Thank you for responding. Im thinking now it may have just been a slight ingery. I put some polysporin on it last night and again this morning and its looking alot better already. I might give it one more treatment tonight and see how it looks tomorow. Thanx again!

Hi again! Looks like the polysporin helped but failed to cure the eye.I tried the salt solution which also seemed to help a bit but the eye still lookes alittle foggy and now the entire animal is couverd in that what I call black fungus. Any sugestions? Thanx.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
