I just got my new water testing kit and got the following results:
pH 7.6
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrate 5.0

What are suitable levels for Reptar?
How do I adjust the levels that are bad?

Thankyou

Just do a 20-30% waterchange. You'll need to test the water regularly, daily, and if ammonia, nitrite are still showing levels above 0, just keep with doing the waterchanges after each watertest.

By the way these levels are normal if your tank is cycling. As long as you keep on with the regular testing and partial waterchanges, he'll be fine.

Awesome! Thanks for your advice :bowl:

hi i'm thinking of getting my first axolotl but i dont no a lot about them are they hard to look after

They aren't hard to look after if you do things right from the beginning, ie: research and read the link Jennewt left you on the other thread, setting up and cycling your tank properly, monitoring water quality (which is what loki is doing via water testing). Don't jump into buying an axolotl until you get everything sorted out properly.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
