Ok im new to this and my axolotls bred and i now have 30 babies. I have people wanting them but do not have any idea when is a good time or age to give them away. Can anybody help please?

Ours we started giving away once they reached 3 inches in size and had moved from smaller live foods (ie mosquito larvae, daphnia/baby brineshrimp and live bloodworm) to live earthworms and frozen bloodworm.

Only place I wouldn't consider giving them to is petshops as they wouldn't remove the gravel from tanks nor were they interested in being given this forum or www.axolotl.org for reference for themselves or prospective buyers if they had any problems.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
