I just bought some at the store, but the container says they're for fish, so I'm worried my newt isn't going to get the nutrition he needs. What do you think?

They're a poor food option. They have very little nutritional value. Live earthworms, blackworms, frozen bloodworms, and the occasional waxworm are much better options.

I dont like the freeze dried blood worms as they look like card board to me carnt be too healthy... however they are handy to keep in ust in case you are desparate (run out of every thing else & carnt get hold of better food) I like frozen blood worms only recently I had a bad batch of 'sallys blood worms' when they defrosted they were a weird colour and looked like they were all skins rather than actual worms.... so will not be buying them again.

I recommend Hikari brand frozen bloodworms, if you can get them.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
