I read about people using tweezers to feed their Newts. All of the tweezers I have seen are ones that would easily damage my Japanese FBN - they are pointed. Does anyone have a resource for me to use in order to find appropriate "feeding tweezers" ? Thank you.

If you're in an emergency situation i have gone to Petco and found a set made of bamboo. They have a square tip and I worried about that hurting the salamanders I feed so I rounded them out with sand paper. I think they run in the $5 range.

Good idea. I will check at petsmart. Not an emergency, but the frozen bloodworms are a bit difficult to feed by hand ....

Surgical and verterinary supply catalogs sell lots of lovely thingies. I have several pair of alligator forceps (with the teeth for holding tissue (or worms)), and a few curved hemostats. They are not overly expensive and since they are generally 440 stainless and above they can be boiled for sterility when working with a sick critter.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
