Do tiger salamanders migrate or hiberate together. My mother-in-law told me that she has seen quite a few salamanders crossing the road where I caught mine. It is in northern saskatchewan and it is going to start to get cold up there in the few weeks, it wouldn't be unusual for it to snow in the next few weeks. So I wonder if salamanders have a winter hide out that they cluster together to keep warm through the winter.

They'll all migrate to the pond from which they were born (usually), and all migrate at the same time. So it's not unusual to see them in high numbers.

They can't produce their own body heat, so clustering together to keep warm isn't feasible. They'll find a place to hide before the hard winter sets in.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
