The only thing I've seen that looks just very slightly like this is the spermataphore pyramid package thing ( lost all sense of description there!..daughter singing behind me and its driving me totally nuts...non stop!!!) . The ones that Jeffrey deposits are on a jelly like mound with a white sperm pack on top.. the size was approx the size of our 10 pence piece in diameter.

i know its not that easy to see but is more like the eggs but this is joined together as if cells are dividing.
i dont know if im explaining it very well.
the reason im concerned is that the deposit is actually wider than she is.

When I watched Maude laying her eggs , they appeared to be just the white bits, then over a small period of time the 'jelly' coating swelled ..I just posted in your other thread befor seeing this. Maudes cloaca region swelled quite a lot and in her case her tail looked slightly pink with the veins becoming noticable ( she was the albino) towards the end of her laying.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
