Hey again, me and always.
My baby doesnt feel good.
He was hiding under his filter, mouth opend. I pushed him a bit with my fingers, he kinda moved but just cuz i moved him, after he swimed a bit but not much, ate a little piece of what he eats normaly.
I'm really mad and really sad. I don't want him to die and geez he doesnt look very strong.
I just dont know at all what to do now. :(

Even if i only had a 2 weeks garanty on my baby, do you think i should ask one of my store to send me a new one and a bigger one?
Cuz really.. i dunt think he's gonna passs trough it.
I'm sooooooo lost right now

Plz advice someone

I'm sorry to hear Kirby is not feeling too good still.. I personally think the size he is you need to offer small live food ,for example bloodworm/ daphnia/ brine shrimp etc as it will be more nutricious ( sorry I am a terrible speller) . I would also remove him from the tank and put him in a smaller container with un chlorinated water, somewhere cool. You will however need to do daily complete water changes with the dechlorinated water ( at the same temp as his water). Offer him live food twice daily ..the blood worm and daphnia will be ok to stay in with him as long as they are not dead. This way you'll be able to monitor what he eats and what he may excrete. He could yet pull through and end up growing to be a fine strapping 30 cm axolotl!!
And don't worry about posting here with what ever is worrying you with regards to your axolotl..there is nearly always some one who will get back to you and help support you. You should have seen the posts I made when I first had my adults and then their eggs....

Hi sorry to say but you have got a very sick little guy. Your axie was to young to be sold as a tank ready pet.

I'm not being rude but nothing about your axie fits the "normal" category I agree with bella and would feed it as if it was a larvae I just don't think it looks big/old enough to handle juvenile or adult food.

Heres the fact an axie in the condition of yours should not be able to be offered for sale. In New Zealand we have Consumer protection laws to guard consumers against poor trading like this I don't know if there is in Canada.

Your axie is in need of specialised care if you are inexperienced with axies you may find it difficult, but not impossible. Check out www.axolotl.org if you haven't already done so it has heaps of information.

Also keep posting on this site there is a huge combined knowledge base here and heaps of people willing to help.

Good Luck

i found kirby on his back this morning mouth open. My gf said its dead, we poked him, then he moved, i took him out of his aquarium and put him in a little thing like ziploc plastik scare. i fed him there, he ate well. He moves more then when he was in his tank.... I'm getting my worms today hoping it will be good....
Since he is white, and his little kind of feathers next to his ears arent red yet. thats mean what?
And also. I can see trough his body since he is white and theres black spots inside and... a little white tube.
Im wondering what it is, maybe his lungs, and the other part of his inside body????
I dont know much about axolotl thats for sure, its my first one, and the only way i knew about it its my friend who has a big axolotls where she bought at my job, but he was just a bit bigger.
Now he's huge.
I reaslly want to be positive and save my baby....

you really should not be feeding him garden worms yet he is way to small.
you need to get him daphnia or blood worms they will be easier for him to cope with. once he has put on some bulk then offer him something larger.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
